JOB SHOP MANUFACTURING
Manufacturing is not monolithic. It is a diverse sector with five distinct groups of industries, each with specific drivers of success.
Manufacturers apply methods, operational scheduling, machinery and labor to transform raw material into finished products. Generally speaking, there are five categories of manufacturing processes: Repetative Manufacturing, Discrete Manufacturing, Job Shop Manufacturing, Continuous Process Manufacturing and Batch Process Manufacturing.
Instead of an automated assembly line, Job Shop Manufacturing employs highly skilled workers utilizing workstations and workshops. Each worker adds something to the product when it passes through their station before it's finished. This method of manufacturing produces a lower volume of highly customized products with an emphasis on quality.

Manufacturing a Better Tomorrow by Creating Jobs and Seizing Opportunties for Growth and Innovation
For centuries, the evolution of modern manufacturing has shaped the global economy. We continue to see how creativity and innovation are changing the face of modern manufacturing. We've learned from manufacturing and industry professionals of all levels over the years, including entrepreneurs, engineers, innovators, mechanics, technicians, operators, and CEOs. Never before has the rate of innovation and technological advancement been faster than it is today. Manufacturing provides high-paying jobs, is the nation's largest source of commercial innovation, is key to reducing the trade deficit, and is disproportionately a large contributor to environmental sustainability.
